For ages 6 to any, tuition for Rockschool grades or for fun

Based in Ely, Cambridgeshire

I teach drums, percussion, guitar, bass, vocals and keyboards also music theory to clients of all ages (6 to any years) and abilities. I am an accredited Rockschool teacher (DipRSL level 4) and have over 35 years teaching and performing experience, so well placed to prepare clients for solo performances, playing in bands, preparing for grades and school music exams.

All grades are via the Rockschool syllabus which enables clients to obtain an accredited Rockschool exam certificate, many other clients juat like to play for fun, learn the songs that they love or create their own songs and compositions.

All lessons can be tailored to one or two instruments, these can be divided up in the same lesson slot, for example, for a one hour lesson you can have 30 minutes on a guitar then 30 minutes on the drums or 15 minutes each for a 30 minute lesson in any combination.

Individual and group tuition: I provide both individual tuition and group tuition for up to three clients in one session. This is ideal for children of similar age and abilities who want to learn the same instrument, or for families who would like to make music together.

I have many years’ experience of working with children and adults who have special needs (e.g., autism, mental health and behavioural issues). Parents and carers are welcome to join in and help create a fun and rewarding session, please note as this is online it may not be ideal for all.

Drums and Percussion

I teach drums using the Rockschool syllabus. This includes music theory, sight reading, technical exercises, ear test, improvisation and performance pieces.

Mock exams are run well before any exam entries to ensure a 100% pass.

Other clients use the Rockschool materials but are free not to enter exams.

Maybe a stundent would just like to learn a favourite song or piece, this is a great way to learn new skills and techniques on the kit.

Electric guitar Acoustic guitar Bass guitar

I teach electric and acoustic guitar also bass using the Rockschool syllabus. This includes performance pieces, music theory, sight reading ear tests and improvisation. Other students study the Rockschool material and are free not take exams.

Many use Rockschool to have a goal to aim for.

Piano / Keyboards

Piano / keyboards are great instruments to learn to read music, compose, study music theory, this is particularly good for the younger learner aswell as for all ages.

Rockschool is also available for piano and keyboards with all exams if required.
